Before you choose a side you must make sure you understand the issue and the facts. Labelling of GMO's could change more than just cereal boxes; GMO crops have environmental, economic, health and societal implications. Understanding GMO

 

David Suzuki takes the reader through a brief history of GMO foods and the current issue surrounding them. While it boasts a Canadian perspective don't be deceived by the anti-GMO undertones. Even with this article's underlying tone it is a great starting resource in understanding the basics.  

 

GE Crops and Foods (On the Market)

 

CBAN, the Candian Biotechnology Action Network, takes a look at what GE (genetically engineered) crops are most prominent and where they are farmed. ​There is a focus on Canadian grown and imported crops, how they are modified and where we find them in the grocery store. 

The Regulation of Genetically Modified Food

 

Health Canada gives a brief overview of the approval process for GM (genetically modified) foods; research, development and testing are summarized. The cooperative nature of Health Canada and the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) are reviewed and linked to current policies on labelling of food altered by biotechnology.

Trade, Development and the Fight Against Poverty
